New Details Revealed for WWE’s Paul Heyman DVD Set

- Courtesy of WrestlingDVDNews.com, below is the synopsis for WWE’s “Ladies and Gentlemen, My Name is Paul Heyman” DVD and Blu-ray that comes out on August 5th:

“One of the most controversial managers and figures in WCW, ECW and WWE History! For the first time ever, fans get the full story of the life and career of Paul Heyman. From his beginnings as a ringside photographer at MSG, to becoming a manager at WCW, then heading up the infamous ECW, Paul has his own unique brand of over-the-top, in your face entertainment that has developed him a cult-like following. Unfortunately his financial savvy didn’t match his creative genius, and ECW was eventually purchased by WWE.

Since joining WWE, Paul has gone on to great heights, including managing Brock Lesnar, when he finally broke Undertakers WrestleMania Streak this year.

This collection includes great behind-the-scenes footage and interviews, with past and present talent talking about Paul’s contribution to the world of sports-entertainment. Featuring interviews with Raven, Tommy Dreamer, Joey Styles, Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam, Stephanie McMahon and of course the man himself.”

Jericho Talks About Meeting The Ultimate Warrior and Being a Fan

- Chris Jericho recently spoke with BANG Showbiz to promote his one-man shows this June in the UK. He also talked about The Ultimate Warrior:
Meeting Warrior in WCW:
“I only treat people the way that they treat me and I only met Warrior once and he was really gracious and really cool to me back in 1998 in WCW. He was there to do something with Hulk Hogan and I remember I went up to say hi to him and he went, ‘Hey, Chris Jericho, I know you, you’re doing a great job you’re doing some good work.’ I was a nobody at the time and I remember thinking, ‘Wow, the Warrior likes me that totally smokes.’ It made me feel that I must be doing something right and it gave me a little bit of a boost and I always remembered that … He’s definitely a legendary guy that deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, I’m glad he got to go in when he was still alive.”
Being a fan of Warrior:
“As a fan in the late 80s when Warrior came out, he had this energy, this intensity and his look; he was like a heavy metal guy – or he came across that way – and so was I, so I liked that. I always respected him as a performer, some of his matches were pretty quick I remember he came in the Winnipeg arena once and beat Andre the Giant in 30 seconds, at the time I was like, ‘What a rip off! That sucks.’ But I remember WrestleMania VI where he had a classic with Hulk Hogan, much like a lot of guys from that time period he had good matches when he had the right opponent.

Foley Says John Cena Is Stale, Talks Wyatt Segments on RAW

- WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley posted the following on Facebook with thoughts on the John Cena character and his feud with Bray Wyatt:
JOHN CENA: LET THERE BE CHANGE
How good was that ‪#‎BrayWyatt‬/children’s choir creepy sing-along last night on ‪#‎RAW‬? So good that I wish I’d thought of it back during my original ‪#‎WWE‬ feud with The Undertaker. I have become a HUGE Bray Wyatt fan, and consider any comparison between Bray and anything I did in my career as a big compliment.
As many of you know, I have also been a vocal supporter of John Cena. I genuinely like John as a person, and have defended him many times as a wrestler. It’s easy to defend Cena against the looping haymakers thrown by most detractors: he can’t wrestle, he has only three moves, he’s been carried by great opponents. But there’s this one knock on Cena for which I have no defense. It’s not a looping haymaker, that can be seen, countered and sent right back at the claimant. No, it’s more like a stiff jab that sneaks through even the best pro-Cena defense. A stiff jab of honesty from which there is no countering, avoiding or evading. A stiff jab that continually states that the Cena character is stale. I agree, It’s time for a change.
Bray Wyatt has a chance to be the initiator of that change. A chance to show the world a different Cena; a desperate, dangerous, angry Cena. He’s half-way there. Cena’s blaming of the WWE Universe for putting him in an impossible situation was a good start. His look of disbelief and defeat as Bray Wyatt gently rocked that mask-wearing child was powerful in its believability and subtlety. But, as good as it was, I could not fully enjoy the brilliant, chilling segment – one of the most memorable things I’ve seen on Raw in tears, because of …because of…because of those WRISTBANDS! Because of those wristbands…and the HAT! Because of those wristbands, and the hat…and the bright green FLOURESCENT SHIRT!
I LIKE John Cena – but everytime he raised his hand and put it to his head last night, I couldn’t help but feel “he’s trying to sell me something”. Every time he waved his cap, I thought, “he’s trying to sell me a hat.” Every time he walks through that curtain, I get the feeling he’s trying to sell me something. I could not, and can not completely enjoy this amazing groundwork that Bray Wyatt is in the process of laying down, unless I’m convinced that it is bringing out a different side…a change.. in John Cena. In order for John Cena to start completely SELLING ME on a change in his character, he’s got to be willing to stop SELLING ME his merchandise every time he raises his hand.
In the short run, it will cost both John Cena and the WWE some money in merchandise. In the long run, its going to give Cena a much needed twist to his character, and more importantly, allow Bray Wyatt to make WWE some serious money by putting butts in seats, and eyeballs in fron of the WWE Network for a long time to come.
That’s change I can believe in.

Bruno on Seeing Warrior at the HOF, WrestleMania 31, Returning to WWE

- WWE Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino recently spoke with Alfonso Marimon of Wrestling365 Talk Radio about The Ultimate Warrior, how wrestlers move in the ring these days, being impressed with Rey Mysterio and more. The full interview is at this link. Below are some highlights:
Returning back to WWE:
“It was good very.. very good. I sure appreciated the changes they made.” He is very happy that WWE stopped with the profanity, stating that the WWE toned down “the profanity by 95%” and he also noted how effective the drug testing is and “how it shows” after all these years.
The Ultimate Warrior at the 2014 WWE Hall Of Fame:
Although he didn’t have the chance to speak to Warrior during WrestleMania weekend, he did note that when Warrior left the stage, he noticed that “he was walking not well” and “that when he came to speak he didn’t seem right.” He felt concerned for him has he was sweating a lot and his limp became more noticeable.
The possibility of a Bruno Sammartino Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 31:
Bruno spoke in depth about his life-sized statue, how honored he felt seeing it for the first time. He also said as of this time Triple H nor the WWE has reached out to him about doing anything at WM31. But did note that “it would be very flattering, why would I object to it,” the door is wide open for him to be apart of next years WrestleMania.

Rollins Talks Daniel Bryan’s Success, How Reigns Is Learning, Turning Face, More

- Seth Rollins recently spoke with SLAM! Wrestling. Here are some highlights:
The Shield going babyface:
“It’s just how things happen. It’s been an interesting transformation, I suppose. But to be honest with you, we really haven’t done much different. We just started targeting different people, I suppose. By that association, the fans just started to get with us. It’s been fun. It’s been a side to take for sure, but I think it’s something that we’re all pretty excited about.”
WWE’s new generation of stars:
“I think that with this new generation of guys, you talk about the Wyatt Family, you can talk about Daniel Bryan, the Usos, you can throw Cesaro in there. There’s this next generation of dudes who are hungry, man. The Shield, coming into WWE, we wanted to change what was going on. We had seen the business stagnate for a good five years at least. Just guys not coming in being hungry, and not wanting to make change, not wanting to ruffle any feathers, feeling like they’re walking on eggshells. Myself, Ambrose and Reigns, we were never like that. We’re all alpha males, that type personality. We all want to be the best, be number one. From the very outset, we were just going to work harder than everybody else, put on better matches than everybody else, cut better promos than everybody else, be more interesting than everybody else. We didn’t really care who that pissed off. I think that attitude resonated with a lot of other guys that we came across, especially in developmental — and they brought that attitude up here with them. It’s really a great time to be a WWE fan, because you’ve got a lot of very invested performers who are willing to make that sacrifice, to make that change.”
Daniel Bryan’s rise to the top:
“People say he ascended so quickly, but he’s been in WWE for what, four years now? And before that he was on the indies for over decade. He’s a guy who, if anybody’s put in the time, it’s him; if anybody’s had a slow build to where they’re at, it’s him. It definitely seems like a skyrocket, just because of all the attention the Yes Movement has gathered, the way he’s been positioned over the last six months particularly. But like I said, he’s worked so hard, and I’m super happy for him. He deserves it. I’m real proud of him as a performer and as a friend.”
How Roman Reigns has been learning from Rollins and Dean Ambrose:
“He’s smart enough to listen. He’s smart enough to pay attention and pick up little things. He’s someone who’s a student of the game. He played football before he got here. He didn’t spend as much time doing this as we had, but it’s in his blood. His family’s a huge part of this business. He’s just a guy who’s built for it. It’s just part of him. We spend a lot of time in the car and a lot of time in the ring together, and stuff like that, so if he’s not learning, then something’s not right. But I think it’s pretty clear that over the past 18 months that we’ve been teamed up up here that his progression and his development has been accelerated, to say the least.”

Big Spoiler on Plans for Evolution

- Ric Flair has been booked to return to WWE on this coming Monday’s RAW from St. Louis.

One would assume that Flair will be getting involved in the Evolution storyline because of his history with the group. As of two weeks ago, the plan was for Flair not to be involved in the reunited Evolution.

Devon Talks WWE Return & Bryan, Total Divas Preview Clips, DiBiase

- Bill Apter recently spoke with Devon Dudley for a WWE.com interview. Dudley said if given the opportunity, he would love to return and join in on the tag team scene. He named Big E as a potential partner. Devon was asked who he considers extreme on the current WWE roster. He replied:

Daniel Bryan, for one. Most people wouldn’t put him in that category because he is such a technician in the ring, but I can see him getting down and dirty. Sheamus could be in that category as well. Put Randy Orton there, too. We beat the hell out of each other many times. I know a lot of people cheer him and a lot boo him, but I would put John Cena on that list as well. I had many brawls with him when I was in WWE and he was working himself up in the ranks.”

- Ted DiBiase Jr. just reached the $30,000 Kickstarter goal to fund the documentary on his father, The Million Dollar Man. They currently have 16 hours to go. Fans can donate at this link.

- Below are two new preview clips for Sunday’s Total Divas episode:

DDP Calls Nancy Grace a Bitch, Says She Set Him Up

- In the audio below, Diamond Dallas Page talks to The Undisputed Wrestling Show about his appearance on Nancy Grace where she talked about The Ultimate Warrior’s death. Page said:
“First of all, I wanted to leave. Oh my god, this woman was so nice to me when I walked in there. Once she started hitting me with that deal, I got scared. I go ‘Oh my god, she set me up, so should I get up and walk away? How is that going to make the business look?’ I breathed, I focused on breathing…The only thing I could think of at that time was that WWE has the best wellness program, better than the NBA, NFL, MLB, so I think that is fighting for the company. I thought about firing back at her, but it was a really weird situation. I can’t put that bitch over. I can’t talk about her anymore, I want to strangle her. The last thing I want to be is in that position. The way it was told to me is that I saw four questions. I said ‘I don’t know about this’ and Nancy Grace said ‘No, it’s gonna be a feel good piece.’ When I walked in there, she was so sweet to me. She totally set me up.”
Page also commented on the graphic of wrestlers who died young that was shown:
“I never saw that! That totally blindsided me. I will never do that bitch’s show again, I can guarantee you that!”

Cesaro Talks About The Swing, Working His Way Up In WWE, Zeb

- The Miami Herald recently spoke with Cesaro. Here are some highlights:
Working his way up in WWE and gaining respect from fans:
“It has been a great two years. I started at the bottom and worked my way up. I think that shows hard work pays off. A good thing takes a while. It comes with time. If you constantly put in the hard work, you see the crowd starts to appreciate that. I think that’s why it’s so important to keep working hard every day and get better every day.”
The Cesaro Swing:
“It’s a really basic move. I’m a really big fan of the history of wrestling. The Giant Swing is a throwback. I used it prior to WWE quite a bit. One of the days I thought about bringing it back. It connected with the crowd. I’ve been doing it ever since.”
His time with Zeb Colter:
“It’s been great. Zeb has been in this business for four decades. The knowledge is huge. It’s always great to listen to him talk and see how he thinks and what he thinks about things. It’s been great and awesome to work with him.”

Likely RAW Spoiler, RVD’s Plans for Extreme Rules, Sting-WWE Update

- Bad News Barrett is expected to defeat Rob Van Dam on Monday’s RAW, likely due to interference from Cesaro, and go on to face Big E for the WWE Intercontinental Title at Extreme Rules. This will lead to Cesaro vs. Van Dam vs. Jack Swagger in a three-way at Extreme Rules.

Another match scheduled for Extreme Rules but not announced yet is Ryback and Curtis Axel vs. The Usos for the WWE Tag Team Titles.

- It’s now confirmed that Sting will be involved in the WWE DVD and Blu-ray they are releasing on him later this year.

Backstage News on Vince & The Undertaker’s Streak, Was Taker Talked Into It?

- Regarding The Undertaker’s Streak ending, a major misconception has been that it was Taker’s cal to end it. It is almost surely true that if he didn’t want to have it ended, he could have put up a fight and it most likely would not have happened, so to an extent, that is true.
However, Taker was scheduled to win until some point a few days before the match when Vince McMahon changed his mind, based on Taker’s physical condition and the feeling that there was a good chance this was his last match.
As far as Undertaker’s reaction when Vince suggested it, only he and McMahon know for sure. One friend of Taker’s said he was talked into it while another person very close to the situation said that Taker didn’t argue the decision.

WWE Stripping Paige of Her Title

A storyline that will crown a new NXT Women’s Champion will kick off at tonight’s tapings at Full Sail University.

More on a Shield vs. Evolution War Games Match, New JR Show, Jericho

- We noted before that an Evolution vs. The Shield War Games was being speculated on but that no arenas between now and SummerSlam would be able to accommodate a two-ring set up for the match. It turns out that the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, site of this year’s Battleground event, is big enough for a War Games setup.
- Chris Jericho’s new Talk Is Jericho interview with William Shatner is now online at this link. It also features the world premiere of Fozzy’s new single Light Go Out. Jericho’s guests on Friday will be WWE Superstar Santino Marella and Jericho’s son Ash.
