Jeff Hardy Talks TNA/Spike TV Negotiation Rumors, Interest In a WWE Return & More

The following are highlights of a new Between The Ropes interview with Jeff Hardy:

On whether or not he was worried that he wouldn’t get one more chance with TNA a few years ago following his personal problems: “Oh yeah, definitely. It was a dark, depressing time in my life after Victory Road 2011 was real … it was a sad time for me cause they could have easily fired me and let me go. As far as them giving me that second chance and letting me prove myself, TNA saved me. They saved my life pretty much.”
On hIs thoughts on the talk that Spike TV will not renew Impact Wrestling once the current deal expires: “I just hear that negotiations are ongoing. People have their doubts but me, I’m the type of guy that, you know, I have faith in TNA wherever we end up. I have faith that, you know, a year from now we’re still going to be on Spike. I don’t read Twitter timelines. I don’t follow the social network at all. So, I don’t know. I feel good about being in TNA and as far as I’m concerned I’m going to be on Spike this time next year.”
On if he would like to finish up his career with a return to the WWE like Kurt Angle has said he wants to do: “From time to time I’ll turn on Raw and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss the WWE Universe man, because they, what a … the crowds. When I watch, it hurts a little bit. I’m going ‘oh man, that’s my creatures man, my fans’. They’ve supported me so much. And even on the Instagram posts that’s all I ever see. ‘Go back to WWE. You said you’d come back. It’s never forever, it’s just for now’. I mean, ultimately, when the time is right, who knows. But I started there and whether it’s 10, 15 years down the road I would like to end there.”

Did The Rock Give Advice to Lesnar?, Funny Fan Video of Brock Lesnar

- The Rock recently spoke with UFC Magazine and was asked if he gave any advice to Brock Lesnar before Lesnar transitioned into MMA. Rock replied:
“I never spoke to Brock when he decided to compete in MMA. We’ve been good buds for years, and he always knew I supported his decision. To be able to accomplish what he did and become UFC heavyweight champion in that short amount of time was insane—historic.”
- A fan posted video of one of their friends trying to meet Brock Lesnar and his wife, former WWE Diva Sable, at the Orlando airport this past week:

Is WWE OK with Seth Rollins Opening a School?

- WWE’s website has a new interview up with Seth Rollins, talking about the new “Black & Brave Wrestling Academy” he’s opened with his former tag team partner Marek Brave. He talked about why he’s opened the school:
“It just felt like the right time. I feel like I’m in a good position here at the company. I’ve got the Money in the Bank contract, I’ve been successful for a couple years, and I feel firmly implanted in the WWE family, I guess you would say. I feel like it’s a good opportunity. Marek is at a good place in his life where he’s ready to commit more time to something like this, and I just feel it’ll be good, especially moving forward, as something to do in the future as well.”
Rollins also was asked if there’s any affiliation with the WWE Performance Center:
“There is no affiliation with WWE, [but] they are super-supportive of it. They have given me the go-ahead; I think they see it as good for all parties involved. I’ve got a good set of eyeballs on me, so I can spot talent. If there’s somebody that I need to recommend to the WWE Performance Center that the coaches down there can take a look at, I certainly can do that, and that’s an advantage of coming to my academy. At the same time, there’s no affiliation with WWE. I’m doing this on my own time, with my own backing. So there’s a partnership, but it’s very unofficial.”

Ambrose & Referee Trend, Full WWE SDCC Video, More

- WWE NXT referee Drake Wuertz, formerly known as indie star Drake Younger, was a hot topic on social media during last night’s WWE SmackDown as he appeared in his referee gear after the Dean Ambrose vs. Cesaro match. - Chris Jericho’s new podcast with Zack Ryder is now online at this link. The description reads like this:
“WWE’s Zack Ryder is a former “Edgehead,” the creator & singer of “Howski,” NKOTB’s biggest fan, and the original “guido”! Hear about his wrestling gimmmick in the wheelchair, his time in the ring with Hugh Jackman, the YouTube show that made him a WWE fan-favorite, and why on earth he loves boy bands! Oh yeah… don’t forget about the exploding tights, and his big Wrestlemania moment with Eve!”
- Below is full video of the Mattel & WWE panel at San Diego Comic Con a few days ago. Michael Cole, Daniel Bryan, Paul Heyman, Hulk Hogan and Sting are featured.

CM Punk Hangs with Friends, NFL Prospect to WWE, More Success for The Rock,

- At just after 2:15 in the video below, CM Punk gives a San Diego Comic Con update for Nerdist:
RGJ.com has an article about Nevada football player and NFL prospect Brock Hekking. Hekking, who is friends with WWE developmental talent Clayton Jack, says he was offered a deal by WWE in 2013. Hekking said:
“He [Clayton] said, ‘You could come do this if you want to.’ I said, ‘I’m going to play my senior season.’ He said, ‘OK. This is Plan B.’ It’s fun and you can make decent money doing it, so that’s my Plan B.”
- The Rock’s Hercules is doing better than expected at the box office and will be coming in at #2 behind Lucy this weekend. The movie is expected to finish the weekend with $30 million. The Rock’s biggest “all by myself” opening weekend came back in 2002 for The Scorpion King, but that movie had the help of being a Mummy Returns spin-off.

Booker T Talks Lesnar, Neville, Mixed Feelings on WWE’s New Stable, More

- Booker T recently spoke with The Huffington Post UK to promote his Reality of Wrestling iPPV. Here are some highlights:
What’s your view on this latest WWE faction (Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods)?
You know, I got mixed feelings about it. They’re forming this faction but I’m not sure exactly where it’s going, especially with Kofi Kingston being part of it. Kofi has always been the ultimate babyface, the ultimate good guy and now I’m going to see Kofi with a dark hat on. I don’t want to see that right there out of Kofi Kingston. So as far as exactly where it’s going to go, I don’t know. We’re going to find out in the coming months, we’re going to see if a couple more guys join that faction as well. So we’ll see in the future.
Xavier Woods came from NXT and Kenta has just joined but who do you think we ought to be looking out for?
You’ve definitely got to be looking out for Adrian Neville. He’s going to be a big star as soon as they release him to the main WWE roster. I heard they’ve also signed Prince Devitt and man, he’s awesome. I’ve watched him working. In fact, I actually watched he and Adrian Neville work together in a match from 2009 and I thought it was the best match that I had ever seen before in professional wrestling. I give those guys great props for knowing how to go out there and keep a storyline, to work the psychology and not let the fans work them but rather to work the fans throughout the gig. So I’m looking forward to those guys coming up and making a huge, huge splash in the WWE real soon.
As one half of Book-Dust what do you think of Cody Rhodes becoming Stardust and working with Goldust in the Dust Brothers tag team?
I expected Cody Rhodes to be one of those guys who was going to go straight to the top in this business, given the chance. I thought by this time he would be at least a two-time world champion. But it hasn’t happened for him and now he’s formed the team with Goldust – well let’s see exactly where it goes. Of course he’s got the right person on his team. Goldust and I went on to become tag team champions so if anybody can lead Cody to the Promised Land it’s going to be his brother. So far as stepping up and doing something different is concerned – I can’t look down on Cody for that because looking back at Booker T’s career, he was GI Bro! and he became 6 time world champion, so never judge a book by its cover!
Brock Lesnar is back in the WWE, is criticism of part-time superstars valid?
I look at guys like Brock Lesnar, guys like the Rock, like RVD and Chris Jericho who make their return briefly and then go off again, I look at those guys and think they are still willing to go out and help the product first and foremost. I tell the young guys on the roster that when they start selling tickets, selling out Pay-Per-Views and bringing up merchandise revenue, then they can start talking. Until then they should just shut up and enjoy the ride. That’s the way I look at guys like Brock Lesnar coming back. He’s a major big time superstar. A guy who’s done it in the WWE, who’s gone to MMA and done it and now he’s back again trying to complete the trifecta. So I give guys like Brock Lesnar big, big props for still wanting to be around and do this and bring revenue into the business. When the young guys start selling tickets and creating a buzz for PPVs then we won’t have to bring back guys like the Rock. Until then, just keep quiet and enjoy the ride.

Rusev slams him into the apron and the steel steps at the 5 count. Fans chant USA as Rusev rolls him back in the ring. Swagger tries to make a comeback but Rusev floors him again. Rusev talks trash and stomps on Swagger’s head.
Swagger tries for another comeback but Rusev slams him to the mat. Fans chant “we the people” now as Rusev keeps Swagger on the mat. Swagger comes back and gets a close 2 count. Rusev blocks the Swagger Bomb but Swagger turns that into a Patriot Lock. Rusev makes it to the ropes, breaks the hold and slides out to the floor. Swagger comes out and get the Patriot Lock applied on the floor. Rusev kicks him off. Rusev strikes Swagger with the Russian flag for the disqualification.
Winner by DQ: Jack Swagger

Bray Wyatt Talks About Playing Himself, Expects Things To Get Much Crazier

- As seen below, Bray Wyatt recently spoke with Brian Fritz of BetweenTheRopes.com to promote last night’s WWE Battleground pay-per-view. Wyatt talked about his past year with WWE:

“It’s been a whirlwind. I always expected to be successful. I don’t remember being a child and plan on doing anything but what I’m doing right now. I was kind of born to do this and this past year has been rewarding. I like the grind of things. I like to keep my ear to the ground and just keep moving forward. It’s been crazy but I expect it to get much crazier as it continues with my career and my growth and a unit especially.”
He also commented on if the Wyatt character is himself turned up:
“Right. 100 percent. I couldn’t create something if I didn’t feel it. When I say things, when I speak on television, I’m not making stuff up. I’m not like sitting in the back with a notepad thinking ‘maybe this will make them think I’m crazy.’ That’s how I really am, you know? My views on this and that, which I really don’t want to delve into, but my views are that of the real me. There is no character. I think that’s the biggest mistake people think when they approach me, they think ‘you’re some character you know, I love the character you play.’ You don’t really know who I am.”

The Rock Reveals His WWE Future, Talks Sting-WWE, Facing Reigns and More

- Chris Van Vliet from CBS-19 in Cleveland spoke with The Rock while Rock was in Los Angeles promoting Hercules this weekend. Here are some highlights:
Does he think Sting will be in WWE?
I do, yeah. And I know a guy or two so we’ll just put it like that. I do think he’s going to come back and I think it’s going to be great.
If The Rock returns to WWE will it be for one match or a series of matches?
It’s all of the above. The one match three or four years ago that I started talking about with Vince then turned into a three year run. So who knows? I would love to go back and figure it out. After last year’s WrestleMania the idea was I was going to set up a great match with myself and Brock Lesnar but then I got hurt so that plan got cancelled. He is now in plans to do something with ba da da da which I’m not going to say (laughs) but it should be a cool match. So whenever I do go back, if it is a match it’s just got to be right in terms of who is the marquee value player that really makes sense and at that time when I went back John Cena was the number one guy in the world so we have to see.
Would a match against Roman Reigns make sense?
I don’t know if that match makes sense now because he’s not their top heel right now, so you would look at that. Unless I went in as a heel and he was a babyface.
How he kept his appearance at WrestleMania XXX a secret:
By me not posting anything (laughs). I came in literally hours before and it’s one of those things where it was a very last minute decision. It was an amazing night and there’s no greater feeling as a performer than that connection with an audience.

Possible Huge Spoiler on Battleground, Plans for Lesnar vs. Cena

- Last week we posted the leaked WWE SummerSlam commercial for Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena, as seen below.
It was noted within WWE how interesting it was that they did not mention the match being for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. We’ve reported how a title change is rumored for WWE Battleground tonight and this could be another sign.
For Lesnar vs. Cena, WWE is going with the idea that it’s one of the greatest Superstars of all time facing the most dominant athlete of all time.

Kurt Angle Talks CM Punk Leaving WWE, Punk Being Negative On Part Timers

Kurt Angle was the most recent guest on Jim Ross' "Ross Report" podcast, and the two spoke about CM Punk, who is becoming one of the hottest topics in pro wrestling today. Listen to the show here.

The TNA star, who has been flirting with a WWE comeback as of late, respected Punk's decision to walk away, and gave his opinion on why he thinks the Chicago-based wrestler left the business.

Jim Ross disagrees with the observers who feel like Punk owes the fans some sort of farewell, and Angle joined him in that regard.

"I didn't know that he was that banged up," Angle admitted. "I have to respect the fact that he walked away, whether he comes back or not. The rumor was that he was upset with the booking, and he's upset with these part-timers coming in, and taking the main spots at WrestleMania."

Angle wanted to contact Punk and tell him as a full-timer, that sort of stuff wasn't going to happen forever. He said there was going to be a time where Punk would have wanted to go part-time, too. He also stated there would be many opportunities for Punk to headline WrestleMania as a part-time worker down the road.

Although, Angle said if the main reason behind Punk's departure was because of his injuries piling up, the Olympic gold medalist said he couldn't have respected him more for the decision.

Reigns Talks About Returning Home as a Star, His Wrestler Family Members, More

- Roman Reigns recently spoke with The Pensacola News Journal to promote a recent WWE live event in Pensacola, FL, his hometown. Here are some highlights:
Returning home in the main event:
“It’s a little bit nerve wracking to be honest. “Fortunately, the last time we were in Pensacola, we were in The Shield. It felt like a pay-per-view out there. It means so much to me being home. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in that Civic Center — watching Disney on Ice, the Ice Pilots, Arena Football. To get in there, especially as a singles competitor, to be in the main event is unbelievable. No matter what, you want to close the show properly. Being in my hometown of Pensacola, it puts even more weight on my shoulder to go out there and perform at the highest level.”
Following in the footsteps of family members in wrestling:
“I don’t look at it as being tough. I take it as more of a responsibility. I feel like I’ve always been in that position in my family, to raise the bar, to keep our legacy strong. It’s more of a challenge. It’s not something that I let stress me out. I stay within myself and never forget where I came from.”
Putting on the best show possible:
“I always feel I need to have my best performance possible. You never know when it’s the last time in the ring. I was extremely tough on myself the last time I was in Pensacola. I think I’m a smarter performer now. For me, it’s about doing what I do at the highest level and putting on the best show possible. And that’s what I plan on doing.”

Will Kaitlyn Ever Wrestle Again?, Her Life After WWE, Decision to Leave, More

- Former WWE Diva Kaitlyn recently spoke with Aaron Oster of The Baltimore Sun to promote her appearance at Maryland Championship Wrestling’s Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup 14 on Saturday night in Joppa, MD. Here are some highlights:
Life since leaving WWE:
“When I retired, it was a bit of a last-minute decision. I had been thinking about it for a while because there was a lot of things happening in my life and it was a transitional time for me. I had just gotten engaged, and I wanted to plan my wedding. I also had this project on the backburner, with this business site, that I wanted to wait to start until I retired from WWE. When I made the decision, rather quickly, to leave the WWE, I went full throttle into making my business work, while also planning a wedding. So it’s been pretty hectic.”
Does she watch WWE still?
“Not regularly. I still do sometimes because I have friends there that I’m close with. I do enjoy it, I love wrestling. I’m not really focused in, or watch it every week. Maybe I will have a chance to get back into it, but I have so much going on. I will watch it occasionally though to watch my friends and those I’ve been friends with for a long time.”
Would she have stayed if WWE was focusing on Divas like they are now?
“That’s a really hard question. I might have stayed a little bit longer, possibly. I just reached the point where I had done a lot of cool stuff in the WWE and traveled the world and I had the title, and I think I did some really great stuff. It wasn’t a super-hard decision to step back and leave. I can’t really go back and say I would’ve stayed longer. But it’s possible. I guess it depends on what was going on at the time, especially if there were more opportunities for more storylines like there are now. But I guess what I’m saying is that I don’t regret leaving, because I love my life. I love everything that I have going on right now.
It does make me happy to see all the girls really getting a chance to show their talent and abilities and personalities. It makes me proud to see that they’re getting a good opportunity.”
Her future:
“Right now I’m really focusing on Celestial Bodiez, my new company and clothing line. It takes a lot to start from the ground up. I’m really focusing on that and continuing to steadily grow. Maybe I’ll do some more appearances in the future for wrestling and who knows from there.”
Will she wrestle again?
“I don’t think I will ever wrestle again, but if I do, it would be for WWE. I just feel like that’s my place. It’s where I developed my wrestling abilities and character and that’s where I would stay if I was to wrestle again. The good thing about when I left is that I left on very good terms with the WWE. It left the door open for me if I ever wanted to come back. It’s not completely out of the question to ever return, whether it’s for a short-term or longer. Maybe there will be a point down the line that I miss wrestling bad enough that I’ll want to come back. As for now though, I’m just focusing on my company and my marriage and haven’t gotten that itch to wrestle.”

Ambrose also talked about his feud with Seth Rollins:
“I don’t think this is going to be the end. I think me and him are going to be at each other’s throats and tearing it up and having spectacular matches for years and years down the line, but you’re going to get to see the first one this Sunday.”
